Perth Airport
Our last day has finally arrived and we are now waiting for our flight to the UK. We had a leisurely, or relatively so, morning packing and leaving the house clean and tidy. Richard vacuumed the car and got rid of all the sand then put it through a car wash ready for its return to No Birds near the airport. I said our goodbyes to Liz and Dougie next door.
We took all the frozen food we were storing for Gavin to the freezer at his house then drove to The South Beach Hotel for lunch. We went back to the house to change in to our warmer clothes, in temperatures of 38 degrees today, not good! We decided after all we would rather say goodbye to Gavin in Freo than at the airport, especially as it is such a hot day. We dropped him off at the beach and said our goodbyes. Of course we were all sad and I had a few tears, but it is lovely to see him so happy and settled this time.
We had a good journey to the car drop off and caught their shuttle to the airport. Again, it was self check in, but we managed it with a little help and our bags are now on their way to our plane, we hope! It is so different at security, we just put our bags in the trays provided, no emptying electronic devices or worrying about liquids, quick body scan and we were through, took all of three minutes at the most. Unfortunately we can’t use our airport lounge passes here, so we are now in a bar, Richard with a beer and me with a pot of tea. Flight is due to take off 20 minutes earlier than planned which is good. We did put a bid in to upgrade to Business Class but it was unsuccessful but we are happy with Premium Economy if it is as good as on the way out.
Gavin called and we had a long chat, think he is feeling a little sad and lonely but at least he goes back to his house and Camila and her parents are there and they all get on well. He goes back to work on Thursday and is doing a long swing of three and a half weeks.
Here are some more photos of last evening, you can see Felipe more clearly in them.
I will probably do a final post once we are home and recovered from our journey, until then …..
