Back with Gavin
Last night was very windy and it was still windy first thing but then it died down and it was a beautiful day. We went into Fremantle so Gavin could get some lunch and we also visited a dive shop as he needs to buy some diving equipment and also enquired about hiring as he and friends are diving in Sunday morning. We won’t be visiting Saul, Jen and their son Hugo on Sunday now as we have just heard that sadly Saul’s mum as just passed away. Last time we were here we couldn’t visit as Jen had just given birth to little Hugo.
We went to CY O’Connor beach for a swim but were put off a bit as we spotted two or three jellyfish, I know it doesn’t sound a lot but that is just the ones we could see and with our track record we didn’t swim much. We dropped Gavin off at his home and then came back to the house to rest before going out this evening.
We did our usual on a Tuesday and had the 10aud steak at The Bar Orient, delicious. So funny as Richard again won the ticket draw to try for Chase The Ace but this time he didn’t hit a card, the ace was not hit by anyone else so it rolls over to next week. If we go again, maybe third time lucky. We planned to see The Queen Elizabeth leave port and had time to spare so we went to an unusual bar called Darling Darling. It was very dark inside and decorated with ships memorabilia and the walls were covered with loads of ropes and the only lighting was from candles and ships lamps. There were bowls of peanuts in their shells all around for people to eat and tradition is to drop the shells on the floor! Reminded me of eating nuts like this when I was at my Nan and Grandad’s, but the shells definitely didn’t go on the floor!
I then drove to The South Mole Lighthouse area so we could see the Queen Elizabeth leave Fremantle Port. There were quite a few people there to watch too and we also saw some fishermen right at the end and were fascinated to see when they cast their lines out, there were lights so they could see the line. The Queen Elizabeth left on time and slowly left port and all was quiet except for people calling out, very majestic and a huge ship
