Getting Organised

Today we were not going to drive anywhere but of course when we tried to erect the beach shelter we couldn’t do it!  We decided to drive back to the shop and ask for help.  It was really funny in the end as the assistant had to take it outside to erect it.  The locking mechanism was the problem as it had a strong spring at the top and even she had a problem with it.  As we were standing there trying to rectify the problem a lady came up with exactly the same beach shelter and had the same problem!  We all got chatting and after locking and unlocking the mechanism a few times it became easier to do so we were happy.  I just hope that it works properly when we use it on the beach tomorrow otherwise it could get embarrassing.  The forecast is almost 40 degrees tomorrow so we will need some shade.

I caught up with some washing so now we have plenty of clean clothes.  We went for a walk to the dog beach this evening and it was quite breezy but pleasant.  Was fun watching the dogs swimming and playing in the sea.

Richard used Gavin’s BBQ for the first time and it was very successful. I messaged the lady who is owns the property to ask if there was a spare set of bed linen.  Her reply was no but if we wanted to pay extra she would supply it as it wasn’t in the contract!  I am very cross as all the AIRBNB properties we have rented before have either had a weekly clean including change of bed linen or supply of bed linen so we can  change it ourselves, especially as we are here for six weeks.  She seems very money grabbing so I will not give a good review for customer service.  We talked to our neighbour today and she told us the owner is not popular with the locals so I know it is not just me.  Such a pity as this is not the first time she has been unhelpful As the actual property is fine and we are happy here so far, except for being woken up at 7am by gardeners mowing the lawn on a small public park at end of the road!

Caversham Wildlife Park

Richard suggested we visited Caversham again as the weather has been cooler and cloudy today and perfect weather to walk round a wildlife park.  It hasn’t changed much, sad there were no Quokkas to be seen this time, we forgot to ask why though.  The kangaroos seem to have a much larger enclosure and are laid back as ever. One reason to return was that Lisa had told me you can now not only see and stroke the koalas but hug one as well.  This is the only thing to cost extra to the entrance fee.  We got concession entry tickets as we are old!  I was so fortunate to get the last place to hold a koala at the 3pm session, everything else had gone.  A lady asked about it and we beat her by about two minutes, phew I was so excited, doing this for you too Lisa x. Woodman Point Beach

We went to pick up Gavin from his house ready to go to the beach and I went to his door but on the driveway I was called by a guy from the development.  He introduced himself as Howard and obviously thought I lived at Gavin’s because he asked if he could have a look inside at how the owners had renovated it.  He explained he has had his property for 11 years but has let it out and lived in his other house in Coral Bay.  As he and his wife are getting older, 75 they decided to move back to Fremantle as it is more convenient for shops, doctors etc and wanted to renovate and had heard how Gavin’s landlord had knocked a wall down in the kitchen. It was so funny as he was so friendly, Gavin said it is typical of Aboriginal people, then he called his friend, a guy from Yorkshire to have a look too.  Gavin was great and showed them around and then Richard came searching for us as we had been so long, he had parked out on the road.  We eventually set off for the beach. ...
