One week to go

It is now one week until we leave Colchester and get our taxi to the Hilton Garden Hotel at Terminal 2 at Heathrow Airport.  The idea is that it is a fairly short walk undercover to Terminal 3 where our plane takes off on Saturday 21st about mid day, will do a trial walk there once booked in.  Not leaving Colchester until about 4.30 pm but hopefully traffic will be ok.  Glad we can check in online for the flight, saves a lot of hassle and hopefully having upgraded to Premium Economy will help when we get to airport.  A few folks think we are mad going non stop to Perth but our view is that once on the aircraft we don’t have to worry about delays and missing a connecting flight like we did when we went to Thailand.

We are both getting excited, and I am also getting nervous.  Got bits and pieces out ready to pack and tomorrow will start on our clothes.  Always seems odd getting summer gear out in winter.  After all the planning it is all very close and very real.  My new thing to worry about is that we have brought our road trip forward a few days because Gavin and Camila want to do their diving PADI the end of the week we should be away.  We will now clash with the end of the Australian school summer holidays so I hope we will get hotels booked, if not Gavin has a tent and all the equipment he tells us!

Freo will be looked after by Lisa and family, she and Lexi will be such good company for each other and hopefully will settle down once the initial excitement is over.  I will bath Freo on Thursday ready.  Planned next week’s meals etc etc.  we are going for a meal with Lisa and the boys tomorrow then will be in semi isolation ie no crowded places until we leave next week.  There all written down, now calm…..

Caversham Wildlife Park

Richard suggested we visited Caversham again as the weather has been cooler and cloudy today and perfect weather to walk round a wildlife park.  It hasn’t changed much, sad there were no Quokkas to be seen this time, we forgot to ask why though.  The kangaroos seem to have a much larger enclosure and are laid back as ever. One reason to return was that Lisa had told me you can now not only see and stroke the koalas but hug one as well.  This is the only thing to cost extra to the entrance fee.  We got concession entry tickets as we are old!  I was so fortunate to get the last place to hold a koala at the 3pm session, everything else had gone.  A lady asked about it and we beat her by about two minutes, phew I was so excited, doing this for you too Lisa x. Woodman Point Beach

We went to pick up Gavin from his house ready to go to the beach and I went to his door but on the driveway I was called by a guy from the development.  He introduced himself as Howard and obviously thought I lived at Gavin’s because he asked if he could have a look inside at how the owners had renovated it.  He explained he has had his property for 11 years but has let it out and lived in his other house in Coral Bay.  As he and his wife are getting older, 75 they decided to move back to Fremantle as it is more convenient for shops, doctors etc and wanted to renovate and had heard how Gavin’s landlord had knocked a wall down in the kitchen. It was so funny as he was so friendly, Gavin said it is typical of Aboriginal people, then he called his friend, a guy from Yorkshire to have a look too.  Gavin was great and showed them around and then Richard came searching for us as we had been so long, he had parked out on the road.  We eventually set off for the beach. ...
